Favorite summer website: Homegrown Foods brings the farm to our doorstep

Be a locavore without setting foot outside of your apartment with Hong Kong's newest organic groceries home-delivery service

Homegrown Foods Hong Kong was recently launched by Todd Darling, the guy best known for Central's incredibly popular Wagyu restaurant, Wagyu Lounge, and Posto Publicco. The home delivery service does all the hard work for us, bringing locally produced organic veggies right to our doorstep. We can now get farm-fresh foods without breaking a sweat in Hong Kong's hot, humid summer.

Darling teams up with local farmers, certified by the Hong Kong Organic Resource Center, to supply organic fruits and vegetables to restaurants and consumers. You can hear all he has to say about making his "corporate ideals" and "social ideals" compatible with this latest clean foods venture in his rather earnest video presentation above.

A regular bundle of veggies ordered from Homegrown Foods is designed to last four to five days for two to three people, priced at HK$298. The bundle will consist of the best of whatever fruits and veggies are in season. Delivery service reaches Central, Mid-Levels, Sheung Wan, Kennedy Town, Pok Fu Lam, Wan Chai, and Happy Valley. See the Homegrown Foods website for full delivery schedule.
