Chochukmo is graduating from just a few guys who play music after work to "a real band" with the release of their debut album.
The band topped our Hong Kong Hot List. Why do we love Chochukmo so much? Justin Sweeting of Clockenflap put it best in Time Out:
"[Chochukmo] are a band of this city. They’re a mashed-up cacophony of influences that merges to create something original and uniquely theirs."
Sounds like Hong Kong alright.
Diesel and Time Out Hong Kong helped the indie band make their first album "The King Lost His Pink." The King refers to frontman Jan Curious, who's idea it was for the band to wear hot pink clothes. They're not going to do that gimmick anymore after becoming "a real band," hence the title.
Here are Chochukmo's "Number
One" and "Head to Toe" on Stagetube.
