Sparkz: Boutique vintners sans snobbery

Sparkz is all about wine but it's not at all like Hong Kong's new breed of Enomatic wine bars.

The creation of local sommelier Albert Yam, Sparkz doesn't go the obvious route of trying to flog tiny sips of super-high-end fine wine. The focus instead is on celebrating the lesser known and better value underdog wines. Happily, this means an evening in its softly-lit space is less about showing off and more like being welcomed into a friendly aficionados club.

The 150-strong wine list is a very inside track selection from around the world. The backlit bottles and classy brown and maroon color scheme make for a classy interior. There's also some good tapas to match what you're drinking and the wine buffet on Wednesday and Thursday offers excellent value.
