Asia's 5 highest bungee jumps
The mother of all bungee towers might leave you hanging and screaming for more -- or just screaming. (Photo by Darcy McCarty)Let us paint the picture, you’re at the top of the 233 meter high Macau Tower, looking down -- way, way down -- at the pavement. The twisting wind threatens to knock you off the edge. Jump and you’ll have conquered the highest bungee on the planet. A terrifying day trip from Hong Kong, yet not even the biggest gamble in town. Check out this video of the jump. (Largo da Torre de Macau, Macau, tel: +853 2893 3339)

Three hours from Kathmandu, the calm countryside flutters with Buddhist flags. But what fun is "calm" when there's the option of hurling oneself off a 166 meter suspension bridge with jagged rocks and raging rapids below? (The Last Resort, P.O. Box 14431, Thamel, Nepal, tel: +977 1470 0525)

Cheongpung Land is a theme park for masochists. The highest bungee in South Korea simulates diving from a springboard into a lake. If your knees aren’t too rubbery afterward, there’s a two-person catapult and giant pendulum swing next door. (San 26 Gyo-ri, Cheongpung-myeon, Jechon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea, tel: +824 3648 4151)

Bungee jumping was banned in Singapore until 2003, when the government decided to encourage more risk-taking. G-MAX’s reverse bungee opened the floodgates: the three-person steel capsule shoots up a tower at 200 kilometers per hour. (Clarke Quay, 3E River Valley Road, Singapore, tel: +6338 1146)

At Thailand’s highest bungee, the scare factor is sharpened by the creaky, rusting crane you must climb by foot. There’s a lagoon below to break the fall, but the plastic bags floating on the surface aren’t exactly reassuring.
