3 great apps of the week
Some apps are for gamers, others are for business people. These three hit the travel fun spot in all of us.

Remember It App
Price: US$0.99
Where: iTunes and Android Stores
You’re in a new place, you’re out enjoying a few beers, when suddenly you wake up in your hotel room and your credit card’s missing. Flashback to the moment when you set up a bar tab “just for tequilas.”
This might sound like a fancy tale, but something very similar was the inspiration behind Fernando Pizarro’s Remember It App, “The world’s first location-based alarm.”
The idea is that you set the alarm in a place that you wouldn’t want to leave without remembering something.
Left your credit card behind the bar? Set the alarm and when you leave the bar, it sounds. Keep forgetting your keys when you leave the house? Remember It App could help.
You can designate 50-, 200- and 500-meter alarm zones and allocate the alarm to one of your phone songs.
At the moment you can’t input what you’re reminding yourself about, but after an update in June you’ll also be able to add text, use a default alarm noise, allocate any distance and use it while multi-tasking in other applications.

Hotels.com
Price: Free
Where: iTunes and Android Stores
The major hotel-booking website hotels.com has just launched apps for iPhone and Android users. The apps give access to around 135,000 hotels around the world, more than 20,000 accommodation deals and are available in 30 languages.
It has a sign-in-once feature, so remembering those passwords and login names isn’t necessary, and you can access all your past and future booking details even when offline.
It’s essentially an extension of the website, so once you’re logged in you can access things such as user reviews and hotel deals, and book them up immediately.
It also means you can leave your laptop behind and book more hotels while already on your trip.

Oakwood Neighborhood iPhone app
Price: Free
Where: iTunes
Say you’ve just been seconded to a new Asian city, and happen to be staying in an Oakwood serviced apartment. You can now find out everything you need to know about your new neighborhood with the Oakwood Neighborhood iPhone app. It gives details on local bars, restaurants, shops, schools, banking facilities, transportation and hospitals and even offers tips and recommendations for little-known spots in the area.
You can also access profiles and images of Oakwood properties on the app, allowing users to browse before they buy, so to speak, and will be directed to a bookings page if you see something you like.
It’s only available for Oakwood Asia Pacific properties but they’re not bad places to stay, and can be found in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Thailand. Another 14 properties are scheduled to open by 2014 across Asia Pacific.
