Where great poets and artists go for inspiration
Guilin is one of the most inspirational spots for poets and artists in the world. The infamous mountain scenery is prominent in traditional Chinese art and also featured on the 20 yuan Chinese note. After a five-hour cruise along the Li River, witnessing the magnificent limestone mountains and incredible rock formations, I disembarked at Yangshuo. I trekked through a charming village on the hillside and then moved onto the countryside to see how the local farmers lived. I ended up at a bridge just in time to see an amazing view of the sunset overlooking the river and Guilin mountains.
About the author: Justin Vun was born in the small town of Kuching, East Malaysia. He immigrated to Brisbane, Australia when he was 9 years old and Tokyo, Japan, 18 years later due to his keen interest in Asian arts, history, culture and vast landscapes.
