Wish you were here -- Alcoy, Cebu

Two fishermen, a sleepy photographer and a dreamy pink sunrise in Cebu
Alcoy, CebuIt wasn't just a dream.

It was early morning at the beachfront in Alcoy, Cebu, Philippines. My traveling companion and I had spent the night talking until about 4:30am so when she tried to wake me up for the sunrise a little later that morning, I naturally resisted. But she insisted and I'm glad she did. Once I opened my eyes and saw the sky fully illuminated in pink, I instinctively picked up my camera. Just as I was about to return to bed, a couple of fishermen on a boat gently paddled right into my frame. I woke up the next morning thinking the gorgeous sunrise was a dream, but the photos on my camera proved otherwise.

Getting to Alcoy: Alcoy can be reached in about two to three hours from Cebu City. As it is about 90 km along a coastal road, buses or vans are the easiest way to get there. Departures are every 15 minutes from the Southern Bus Terminal.
