Nepal welcomes the 'historic' arrival of KFC and Pizza Hut

Out with the King and in with the Kernel. KFC and Pizza Hut serve the masses next to the former King's Narayanhiti Royal Palace in Kathmandu
KFC NepalNepalese line up for their first taste of KFC fried goodness.

Kathmandu's first-ever international fast food joints, KFC and Pizza Hut, recently opened on Durbar Marg, "King's Way," right smack in front of the Narayanhiti Royal Palace.

Irony abounds, and now in Kathmandu, it apparently also orders fried chicken from a restaurant adorned with a long red carpet, flashy lights, and a hostess to manage the swarming crowds of young Nepali hipsters, curious locals and tourists tired from a stroll through the Naraynhiti Royal Palace Museum. (Stilll, though not the healthiest meal on the planet, KFC did stop frying chickens in partially hydrogenated oil back in 2007. Hey, it's the little things...)
