Gallery: Futuristic Taipei Pop Music Center designs
The Taipei Pop Music Center International Competition has produced some wild designes for the proposed new center
By Chris Anderson, Assoc. The competition finalized its short list of three finalists and four honorable mentions on October 23. A site visit has been scheduled for today, and the second stage of submissions by the finalists is due January 26, 2010.
The purpose of the Taipei Pop Music Center is to "support development of the pop music industry in Taiwan with the goal of becoming the leading center of the Chinese creative music development internationally and for industrial experiment."
With a proposed construction budget of US$106 million, design entries have shown wild imagination and a willingness to push how to visually express what is "pop music culture" through architectural design.
