Fresh off the boat laughs with 'My parents are FOBs' blogs
Blogger Serena Wu (@serenawu on Twitter) has her digital hands in many things, but her blogs My Dad is a FOB and My Mom is a FOB are absolute riots. Oh and FOB? It stands for Fresh Off the Boat.
From the About page, "Mymomisafob.com is about those Asian mothers who refuse to get in the car without their UV-protection arm sheaths. The ones who leave desperate voicemails asking us to “please pick up phone? hello? are you there?” It’s about the moms who open our STD test results, send us passive-aggressive text messages “from the dog” in hopes that we’ll call home, and e-mail us unsolicited advice about everything from homosexuality to constipation. Started by Serena and Teresa Wu in October 2008, MMIAF has become the place to find solace in the fact that thousands of moms out there are as painfully nosy, unintentionally hilarious, and endearingly fobby as yours is."

Facebook Should Be Off-Limits: "Three offenses in quick succession: 1. Dad joins Facebook, 2. Dad misspells his own name in his profile (Chinese can be bad at plurals, but on their own names?) 3. First photo comment, on a picture of my pregnant sister in her newly decorated nursery: “'The nursery is really shapping up, the animal mobile is a great hit, and Audrey you look like carrying a twins.'"
Sense of Shock and Urgency:
Dad: HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY!
Serena: Dad, I’m 23 today.
Dad: 23? You know, If you don’t get married in the next two years you are going to die alone.
Serena: Um, Thanks dad I have to go.

Mom: Who is that guy?
Me: I don’t know
Mom: Why is he talking to you??
Me: It’s a video…
