Chinese made product labels now highlight cooperation with overseas companies.

Beijing has just launched a new global 'Made in China' ad campaign mainly in response to Chinese-made products taking a beating over the last few years. The campaign has been in the works for quite some time, but last year's tainted milk crisis delayed the production and release of the campaign for obvious reasons.

The new 'Made in China' ad campaign fired up earlier this week with a 30 second commercial airing on CNN International featuring the tagline "Made in China: Made with the world" and stresses Chinese companies cooperation with overseas firms in producing quality products. The new campaign will highlight product labels that reflect this cooperation with tags like, "Made in China with French designers."

The commercial is currently only airing in Asia, but is believed to hit other overseas markets relatively soon.

Will this new 'Made in China' ad campaign help in Beijing's fight against fake goods as well? If consumers keep buying cheap, fake products in Asia with labels like "Mdae in China with Franch designers" then ad campaigns like these can only stand to make a dent overseas.

Made in China is a mark affixed to products manufactured in the People's Republic of China, specifically mainland China. While Hong Kong and Macau are special administrative regions of China, most products made in those regions are labeled as "Made in Hong Kong" and "Made in Macau", respectively. Although the name "China" is used by both the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China, the label "Made in China" is generally affixed to products made in the former. Products made in the Republic of China do not use the "Made in China" label.[ccie course]

Thanks for the comment SirZ. No country makes perfect products. It is just that China's products over the last few years have taken a beating in the public eye, and for a reason. Beijing obviously knows it otherwise there wouldn't be a campaign like this in the first place. And nowhere did I say that the "U.S. or U.K. or any single country can suffice its domestic market with its own quality products." It wasn't even implied. I asked a question about what can this campaign do globally to improve the image in regards to fake goods sold here (in Asia.) Anyway, thanks for the comment and we're always happy to respond to what our readers say. Regards, Chris

To the author, I'm not saying that products made in China, or anywhere else in Asia, are perfect. Neither would I believe that of America's. But if you think that U.S., or U.K., or any single country can suffice its domestic market's need with its own so-called quality products, go ahead.
