Balanzza Digital Luggage Scale
1. Balanzza Digital Luggage Scale

It doesn’t matter if you’re a 90-pound waif. You’re going to pay the same airfare as that beer-bellied dude behind you in the check-in line. Luggage is another story. Avoid those nasty overweight baggage fees and travel with a lightweight digital travel scale. Lift, listen for the beep, panic, repack and repeat. (US$24.95) Balanzza Digital Luggage Scale

The Arc Mouse is Zen-like. It's sleek, folds into a snug wedge that slides into a little black pouch and it fits nicely into our hands. The battery lasts a very long time. Not a fan of Microsoft? Use this travel gadget for a day and you might change your mind. (US$49.95) Microsoft Arc Mouse

3. Monster MusicShare Mini Headphone Splitter

Some things are meant be shared. Like dim sum. Other things, not so much. Like ear buds. That's why we never go near an mp3 player or laptop movie without this handy little splitter that magically turns one headphone jack into two headphone jacks. And makes unprepared travel companions just a little more tolerable. (US$9.95) Monster MusicShare Mini Headphone Splitter

Kindle for iPhone app
4. Kindle for iPhone app

We may not save the planet with this iPhone app, but we'll definitely save money and space in our travel bags. An Amazon Kindle costs US$300, but with the Kindle for iPhone app it’s free. This handy travel 'gadget' let's us download any book from Amazon within seconds. And because no trees are consumed for paper and packaging, and no fuel is expended in shipping, we can feel even better about ourselves than our selection of teenage vampire novels already does. iPod Touch
5. iPod Touch We loved our iPod classic. It was our baby and we ran it into the ground before we finally shelled out US$229 for an iPod Touch. We bit the bullet after the iPod Classic's battery gave its last hurrah and the screen got so scratched that we couldn't watch our favorite episode of The Office. Our hands weren't quite cold or dead when the classic was pried from them, and that shows just how cool the new iPod Touch is. With features like Wi Fi connectivity, a built in speaker, and longer battery life we were able to give our iPod Classic a Viking funeral and sail into the new age of iPod goodness. The iPod Classic lasted us through years of travel, and we're expecting the same of the Touch. (US$229) iPod Touch
