Korean Air's duty-free shops will go into operation starting June this year.
Korean Air will introduce the world's first flying duty-free shop on their giant A380 passenger planes starting June this year.

Gone are the days when duty-free items are paraded down the aisle in trolleys. Instead, up to 64 duty-free cosmetics, liquors and accessories will be displayed on illuminated shelves at the back of Korean Air’s 407-seater planes.

First-class passengers will be allowed to shop first before business class passengers are let in, according to a News.com.au report.

Economy class passengers are admitted last to fight over the scraps.

A mock-up of the store, designed by British designers AIM Aviation, was unveiled at the European Interiors Show in Hamburg earlier this month.

The shop will be located on the main deck and take up the space of 13 economy class seats.

The Chosun Ilbo reported that duty-free shops will be fitted into 10 A380 planes by 2014, including five this year on the Incheon-Tokyo route that will go into operation on June 10.
