This isn't about you, it's about us

Ever have one of those days when you look inside your closet and decide every piece of clothing you own looks like it belongs to a very boring, older person who makes a living removing impacted staples from voided legal documents?

When the only path to salvation lies in shedding that mysterious layer of fat you’ve accrued over the winter and putting on some muscle at the gym?

When a decent haircut might just get you that promotion you so richly deserve?

That was us a few weeks ago. Not exactly ready to sell the house and relocate to a foreign country -- just in need of slight modifications.

The makeover you see on CNNGo today is the result of opening our closet, looking in the mirror and deciding we needed a bit of hotting up.

You’ll find the main changes at the top of our site.
 
We’ve done away with our original dense black color banner and replaced it with a more esoteric, Napisan white.

 Actually, that isn’t exactly true. Black, strictly speaking, isn’t a color. But let’s save the physics lesson for another time.

The most lasting improvements come in stages.
 
The main thing is that white at the top just looks better.

We’re also saving you toner whenever you decide to print out one of our fabulous articles. Big pats on the back all ’round -- to us for saving a few ink trees, and to you for loving our content so much that you actually print it out. (People do still print stuff out, right?)



Site navigation is simpler now too, with more obvious focus given to the world-class cities we cover every day with the best local reporters, writers, photographers and bloggers in the business.
 


Another big change can be found on the right side of the top nav bar. We’ve made it easier than ever to jump to CNNGo in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Korean or Japanese.



Just like you when you get a new jacket or a killer haircut, we feel a little better today because we look a little better.

But we’re still us inside.

We still love spending too much on dinner at new restaurants. We still love kicking back on hidden beaches almost no one else knows about. We still love telling great stories and, just as importantly, hearing yours. Check out iReport assignments and iReport here.

And we still love our friends.
