iReport: Time-lapse in your city

The pulse of four great Asian cities is captured in time-lapse

There's something about a time-lapse video that compresses and magnifies the essence of what you're looking at. So we asked CNNGo readers to submit their best time-lapse videos of their favorite Asian cities.

See below four of the best submissions, from Tokyo, Sri Lanka, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Shibuya, Tokyo

iReporter Masaya Kitaguchi shot this video as an update on the situation in Japan. "Two months had passed since the earthquake. Power shortage is a gradual recovery. The lights are still turned off some billboards, but a huge screen display resumes in Shibuya".

Kandy Town, Sri Lanka

This time-lapse was taken in Central Market of Kandy Town. "I chose this area of the Kandy market because it is very busy place and you can see people getting about their day-to-day life, going to office and doing their grocery and pavement shopping," explains iReporter Shari Atukorala.

Shanghai, China

iReporer Stefan Irvine captured this from Les Suites Orient hotel in Shanghai, overlooking The Bund at sunset. "The video captures the newly-completed promenade and hundreds of people taking a stroll along the river at sundown," explains Stefan.

Aberdeen, Hong Kong

iReporter Stefan Irvine also took this footage of Hong Kong from the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter at dusk .

Stefan says, "This time-lapse was shot during sundown, to capture the life of the sampans, fishing vessels and pleasure craft in Aberdeen shelter on the south side of Hong Kong Island. As the day turns to night, the activity in the harbour and surrounding streets becomes no less frenetic."
