iReporter Joanne Huang took this on the rooftop of a cathedral in Milan. "I was mesmerized by the Roman, Gothic and Neoclassical architectural wonders in Milan. One thing I love to do whenever I'm in Milan is just to wander around the streets, wondering how long it took to build these architectural masterpieces, and also get a sense of what the city probably looked like back in the days."

Sky on fire, Austin, Texas

iReporter Archi Agarwal took this photo while walking to his office parking lot in Dallas Texas. "Usually in the evening I hate walking towards my car because I have to face west and sun is directly in my face. But that day it did not hurt my eyes and looked extremely beautiful. I didn't use any special effects, it just naturally came out vibrant," he says.

Patriotic princess, Quezon City, Philippines

This photo was taken during the United Nations celebration in Quezon City, Philippines. iReporter Sherbien Dacalanio says, "United Nations Day celebrations is a big event in schools and malls where they encourage school chidren to wear their best costumes of the country they would like to represent. The girl in the photo is a contestant of the United Nation pageant where she is representing Argentina. I asked her parents if I could take a photo of her. I like taking photos from the iPhone 4 because it captures moments in action without image blurring."

Red tide, San Diego, California

iReporter Donald Haake took these photos of the red tide off the coast of Encinitas in San Diego, California. Red tide is a rare occurrence of the bio-luminescent algae dinoflagellates that illuminates breaking waves with an eerie blue-green glow.

Commercial port, Brookings, Oregon

Snapped by iReporter James Brunson, this pic was taken at a commercial port in Brookings, Oregon. "The effect was just something I was experimenting with. This was my first real photo-taking outing."

Sport Haven Beach, Brookings, Oregon

Brunson snapped this heavenly photo at Sport Haven Beach in Brookings, Oregon. "I used an iPhone 4 attached to an ALM OWLE Bubo device. The phone fits into the rear of the Bubo and the phone's camera shoots through a wide-angle lens, or the macro lense for crisp clean close-ups. Editing was done on the phone with PhotoShop Express."

Prague city, Prague, Czech Republic

iReporter Marcela took this in February 2010 as she stood next to Prague Castle in Prague, Czech Republic. She says, "We were vacationing and definitely recommend visiting during winter time because it's less crowded and the snow makes the city look a million times more beautiful."

Beach crab, Harris Beach State Park, Brookings, Oregon

"I was searching through tide pools at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings when I came upon him," says iReporter James Brunson. "The little thing is only about an inch across its body, not including the legs. It was hard to get it to hold still long enough to take the photo."

First generation camera phones were used for blurry caller ID pics. Now iPhones can take and edit photos worthy of National Geographic magazine. Well, almost.

Whatever your own personal talent, the iPhone has become the new great travel tool as it's reliable in almost all situations. It goes places a giant camera can't, and the variety of apps can mimic camera affects like lomography, cross process and auto-stitch panoramic views.
