Rain showers and peacocks: Glamping in Asia
Three Camel Lodge, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The Three Camel Lodge in Mongolia has 20 yurts decked out with home comforts deep in the harsh Gobi desert.
Yurts are built in accordance to Mongolian Buddhist architecture and don’t contain a single nail. Each yurt comes with a wood stove, king-sized beds and toilets.
To keep the lodge eco-friendly, electricity is generated by wind and solar power and organic waste is used by local farms as fertilizer.
The lodge cuts electricity from 11 p.m. onwards to conserve energy, but guests are usually too rapt in stargazing to mind.
The site's recreational complex is fashioned after a Mongolian temple and houses a spa, an organic restaurant and a bar that's cooled by geothermic energy.
Visitors who like to be kept busy might want to check out the ancient petroglyphs near the tents, or hop on a camel and go in search of desert wildlife on excursions provided by the lodge.
The compromise: Communal shower, bumpy 1.5-hour ride from Dalanzadgad airport before arriving at the lodge.
