CNNGo Best Eats giveaway: The winners!
We ate our way through each of our six cities in our Best Eats Awards 2010, but apparently, that wasn’t enough for some of you. Our readers responded brilliantly to our invitation to tell us which restaurants we overlooked, and then proceeded to remind us for a little while later.
Which brings us to the little matter of announcing who won what.
Drum roll, please …
Grand Prize winner: Chee Wei Koh
Who suggested: The French Kitchen, Singapore
What they said: “Despite being hidden in a remote corner, the French Kitchen is a real gem for it offers good service and a tantalising spread that can awaken one’s palate.”
What they won: US$2,000 voucher to spend at The Banyan Tree.

Bangkok winner: Brigid Grigg Eyley
Who suggested: Vanilla Garden, Bangkok
What they said: “A far cry from the usually chaotic dim sum environment, Vanilla Garden offers a peaceful garden sanctuary, serving tasty morsels, perfectly executed, along with a beautifully fragrant selection of teas.”
What they won: A stay at Chatrium Suites Bangkok.

Hong Kong winner: Joyce Lam
Who suggested: Le Moment, Hong Kong
What they said: “This tucked-away boutique cafe on Peel Street makes a magical home-made apple crumble. Compliment it with one of their selected Mariage Frères teas and you’ll be immediately transported to Paris.”

Mumbai winner: Supriya Gurbaxani
Who suggested: Maharaja Restaurant & Bar, Mumbai
What they said: “Maharaja’s combination of fresh seafood, Mangalorean masalas, coconut, finely chopped garlic, soak-worthy breads and inexpensive alcohol makes the food finger-licking good … all at a fraction of premium seafood restaurants.”

Shanghai winner: Jenny Gao
Who suggested: GOGA, Shanghai
What they said: “Roy Yamaguchi-trained chef Brad Turley is one of Shanghai’s best right now, using quality ingredients and big flavor profiles. Let him serve what he wants, but try the lobster rolls.”

Who suggested: Café Hacienda, Singapore
What they said: “Hidden at the corners on top of Dempsey hill, Cafe Hacienda boasts a laid-back ambiance coupled with a selection of delectable fare.”
