Bangkok's Airport Link opens check-in services to 11 passengers and four suitcases
Thai Airways passengers can avoid scenes like this at the airport by checking in at Makkasan Station instead. Passengers flying out of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport can now check in for their flights at the Airport Link’s Makkasan Station. If they're flying with Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways, that is.
The Airport Link opened its airline check-in service on January 4, the same day passenger fares were raised from 100 baht to 150 baht after a four-month introductory operation period.
The service, which runs from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. allows passengers to check their bags and collect their boarding passes from Makkasan Station instead of the airport. But according to the Bangkok Post, the check-in counters served only 11 air passengers and handled four bags as of yesterday evening, given only two airlines are on board and there's no word yet on whether any others will join them.
The 28-kilometer rail link connects Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport with the City Air Terminal downtown, where travelers can catch the 15-minute Express Line. The City Line, departing from Phaya Thai Station, takes 30 minutes to reach the airport and makes eight stops on the way.
