Best Bangkok serviced apartments

Why pay for a tiny hotel room when you can have a huge suite with kitchen attached? Here are some of the city's best serviced apartments

In the last few years, the number of Bangkok serviced apartments has rocketed.

Generally more spacious than hotels -- and surprisingly sometimes cheaper, with options such as free Wi-Fi, private kitchens, living rooms, transport and maid service -- serviced apartments in Bangkok cater to everyone from families looking for a bigger room or travelers here on an extended business trip.

Some apartments are basic, some are outrageously luxurious, but these are some of the best.

1. Tenface

Tenface is a favorite for fans of smaller boutique hotels that offer big hotel service.

The minimalist decor, carefully chosen artworks, great restaurant, lap pool and business center, all make it a pleasure to check in, but Tenface knows it’s sometimes the little things that keep you coming back.

For instance, they've got custom tuk-tuk and limo pickups, a welcome box that includes an iPodNano with some relevant pre-loaded videos and an onsite fixer who can help you sniff out the latest, greatest events in Bangkok.

2. The Key

The Key
The Key offers both nightly and monthly rates for its guests.
If you're concerned about location, The Key has that nailed down. It's close to all kinds of major roads as well as the Asok BTS/MRT interchange station.

Despite the lack of higher-end amenities like a full kitchen or limo service, The Key makes up for it with clean, compact mini-suites stocked with pantries and kitchen appliances, free Wi-Fi and a free airport pickup if you book for three nights or more.

3. The Ascott

Ascott Sathorn

At the higher end of the Bangkok serviced apartment market, The Ascott Sathorn is in a prime location. Perfect for those crazy nights out at Patpong or business meetings in Bangkok’s financial district just down the road.

All the amenities you’d expect are here -- swimming pool, spa, business center and meeting rooms, fully-equipped kitchen and even a doctor on call.

4. Citadines/Somerset

Citadines
A one-bedroom deluxe suite in Citadines on Sukhumvit 23.
A more accessible option for those who don’t have large wads of cash to throw toward accommodation but want to stay in the lower Sukhumvit zone is the Citadines chain, managed by Ascott.

The brand has four locations in Bangkok. Though not luxurious, all of the properties are comfortable and the service is good.

At Citadines, the focus is on bright, modern rooms that aren’t huge but still have everything you need -- kitchenette, pool and business facilities. (Locations: Sukhumvit Soi 11, 16, 23, 8)

Also under Ascott management but slightly more up-market is the Somerset serviced apartment brand, with locations on Sukhumvit soi 16, Soi Suanplu (South Sathorn) and Soi Thonglor

Ammeities include guest lounges, free Wi-Fi, meal delivery services, fitness centers and washer/dryers.

5. Fraser Suites/Fraser Place

Fraser Place
At Fraser Place Langsuan, guests get fully-equipped kitchens.
The well-known Fraser logo can be seen shining down from several of the more visible high-rises in most of Asia’s capital cities.

The company’s three locations in Bangkok –- SathornSukhumvit and Langsuan -- put the focus on stylish decor and high-tech services such as in-room concierge, personalized maid services and digital entertainment options.
