American luxury magazine “Travel + Leisure” has released its annual list of the top hotels in the world, with Bangkok making its usual strong showing. The January edition of the magazine names 500 of the finest properties on earth, voted on by readers and broken down into regions, as well as a list of the top 50 overall.

Nine Bangkok hotels featured on the “Asia’s best” list. These are, in order of popularity: Mandarin Oriental, The Peninsula, Le Meridien, Shangri-La, Four Seasons, Dusit Thani, Conrad, Banyan Tree and JW Marriott.

Only one Bangkok hotel managed to make the list of the world’s 50 best, the Mandarin Oriental, which came in at number 20. In terms of Thailand, Chiang Rai’s Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle was voted the world’s 7th best hotel, while the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai won the number 21 spot.
