Thai Home Industries: Eclectic disarray

Inside this temple-like building -- former monk quarters -- you’ll find Thai Home Industries, a dusty but fun and eclectic array of domestic souvenirs and handicrafts.

The shop is probably best known for its hand-made stainless steel flatware, but other items, ranging from traditional Thai-style cotton shirts to wooden model ships, can also be found. We fancy the odd but endearing papier-mâché Thai fruits.

Although the overall selection at Thai Home Industries is somewhat limited and organization is an afterthought, prices are low, quality is high and your purchase benefits those still making many of these traditional items. The aged proprietors are friendly and happy to answer any questions.
