Spare Ferrari? Offload it at the Clutter Sale for Charity

A rare chance to buy the nearly new discards of Thai celebs and wealthy locals, Thailand's most prestigeous flea market is back
NewsMakersBangkok's NewsMakers, a group of high profile editors and communications professionals, initiated the Clutter Sale back in 2006.

Back for its fourth year, Bangkok’s “Clutter Sale for Charity” gives bargain hunters a chance to purchase the discarded treasures of Thai celebs, wealthy locals and members of the diplomatic community.

The event, held at the Four Seasons, doesn’t take place till October 17 but vendors looking to book a table should get in on the action now. It’s all for a fine cause, with this year’s proceeds going to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer.

Keep in mind, the goods sold are primarily unused or nearly-new second-hand stuff that's in mint condition. So in other words, your old worn out tennis shoes probably aren’t going to cut it. Unless your name is Paradorn Srichaphan.

Organizers say past events have included certified brand-name goods, vintage clothes, fashion accessories, jewelry, antiques, sports equipment and the occasional Ferrari, SUV and motorcycle.

Label hounds would be wise to check this event out. Companies like Sisley and ICC have been known to donate their overruns while fashion houses Kai Boutique, Paothong and Rico-a-Mona sold their slightly used catwalk outfits at past “Clutter Sales.”

The “NewsMakers,” comprising senior Thai editors, communications professionals and celebrities, spearheaded the event back in 2006.
