The Royal Bangkok Sports Club doesn't welcome outsiders. Unless they're coming to gamble.
Ask any member of Bangkok’s high society where they go to get fit, wine, dine and socialize and nine times out of 10 the answer will be the Royal Bangkok Sports Club (RSBC).
Forget joining unless you know somebody. There’s just one way us commoners can get in, and that’s by indulging in the only form of legal gambling in Thailand -- horse racing.
Every Sunday, races alternate between the RSBC and the Royal Turf Club of Thailand. Admission fees range from 50 to 100 baht at both venues. The minimum bet allowed is 50 baht and according to staff there is no limit to how much you can wager. Hours vary but there are usually about 10 races, held in the afternoon.
