Where to bling your gadget in Bangkok

Fancy a Swarovski-bedazzled PlayStation? A paint job for your Mac? Check out these two shops
Writer Kitty Chirabongse's very own blinged out Nokia, bedazzled by All That Glitters

Perhaps you've once thought to yourself: "I bet my game would improve if my Nintendo Wii was covered in crystals." Or maybe you've asked: "Why doesn't Apple make neon pink MacBooks?"

Give your gadgets the flash you've always dreamed of at these Bangkok shops, where no request is too ostentatious:

All That Glitters

All That Glitters, a jewelry and accessories store in the Nai Lert Park Hotel run and designed by the hotel's own heiress, Pat Bodirat, uses real Swarovski crystals to bedazzle gadgets. Most people go to All That Glitters to get their mobile phones crystallized but they can bling pretty much anything, from game consoles to laptops. All in the design and colors of your choice.

Prices depend on how many stones you want on your gadget. For instance, covering a mobile phone will cost up to 5,000 baht, depending on the variety of gems used.

ColorUp

The only complaint proud Mac geeks have is the lack of color choices. That’s where ColorUp comes in.

This shop can turn a boring silver laptop into a work of art, brightening it up with scratch resistant plastic paint in various cool designs. They also do paint jobs for mobile phones, MP3 players, game consoles and even home entertainment sets.

A warning for Mac users: this act of pimping will completely void your warranty. But who cares when you have the only purple Mac with red flame accents in Bangkok?

A similar painting service is also available at iStudio J-Avenue: 323/1 Thonglor Soi 15, BTS: Thonglor. Tel +66 (0)2 712 7620

Although a full-fledged Thai born and raised in Bangkok, Kitty is not your typical Thai lady.

Outspoken, sometimes with an almost gnarly in-your-face attitude, her signature is a trait that is usually frowned upon in her home country -- as shown in her brazen writing style.
