4 October, 2010Bangkok's annual Thailand Open men's professional tennis tournament came to a close on Sunday, capping a week of big surprises, disappointing losses and some extracurricular activities that ranged from muay Thai to tree planting.
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez came out on top after winning the singles
final match against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland on day nine of the big
event, while Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan bid a tearful goodbye to his professional tennis career.
Earlier, world number one Rafael Nadal lost to compatriot Garcia-Lopez in their semi-final match and pinup-worthy Fernando Verdasco gave the ladies something to smile about during a shirtless Thai boxing session.
