Italian Festival Thailand 2010: Six weeks of food, entertainment, art and cinema
“The Siege of Paris” by award-winning puppetry company Teatroarte–Cuticchio will be performed at Bangkok's Patravadi Theatre on November 22. The annual Italian Festival Thailand is now underway, offering Bangkok two months of exhibitions, performances, cinema, seminars and gastronomic initiatives.
Promising to school us in “the Italian way,” the event is organized by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Commission. Naturally there’s a push to promote Italian goods and services to the Thai market, but there are some pretty interesting events going on too.
These include seminars that cover topics like Italian language and music in Western history, chef competitions, football games, concerts, DJ nights, puppet shows and design and art exhibitions.
But the best part of the Italian festival is of course the cuisine, with various Bangkok Italian restaurants bringing in guest chefs while offering special menus and deals.
The Italian Festival Thailand runs till December 9. Visit the website for the full calendar of events.
