"Drivers sometimes hang up fish made out of folded paper bills," says blogger and photographer Dale Konstanz. "This brings in baht and helps them 'fish' for more customers."

Bangkok's taxis often smell -- of diesel exhaust, body odor, the last passenger's groceries. Or worse. But they do have their charms.

Lucky charms, that is. Very few Bangkok taxis drivers turn an ignition key over without first arming their vehicles with religious icons and offerings, which are pinned on ceilings, attached to dashboards and hung from rear view mirrors. Many can be described as tiny works of art.

For nearly two years, Dale Konstanz has been photographing Bangkok taxi charms and interiors.

"I have several hundred photographs," Konstanz says.  "A little over a year ago, a writer friend suggested I start a blog as a way to share stories and photos from inside the taxis. I've been using the blog to compile research about the superstitious and religious objects inside the taxis, as well as to document experiences in the cabs."

To see more taxi charms and "Bangkok from the passenger seat" check out Dale's blog: Still life in moving vehicles.

I love his gallery blog very much. As a Thai myself, I often notice about these lucky charms but having been abroad at the moment and now his blog reminds me of our lovely Bangkok. Thank you very much for the article.
