Thailand is deeply smitten with karaoke but it’s hard to find venues with a good selection of both Thai and English-language tunes. Your best bet is Big Echo Karaoke, which offers rooms in varying sizes: from big spaces for crowds down to little karaoke cubbyholes for three people.
Big Echo doesn't have too many Top 40 songs, but hair metal sing-a-longs, alt-rock hits and rock ‘n’ roll standards are all there. And if you wail in an oddly high register, a special remote control allows you to shift any song’s key to help your squeaky voice box hit the right notes.
The food is decent and the beer -- as essential to any karaoke outing as the speakers -- is served in three-liter towers.
