Cultural pick of the week: Bangkok's International Dance Festival

Running from March 5-14, this annual event showcases some of the world's modern artistic greats

Satisfy your cultural cravings this weekend with Bangkok's annual International Dance Festival, which starts Friday and runs till March 14 featuring performances at various city venues.

The festival opens with the three-day jam-packed "Shows at the Park" event, at Benjasiri Park. This includes dozens of dance performances in all styles as well as workshops for kids and adults and fine cuisine from all over the region.

Other scheduled events include the Opera Classic Series at Thailand Cultural Center on March 8, headlined by Filippa Giordano and accompanied by the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. (Tickets available at Thaiticketmajor.com.)

Over at SF World Cinema at CentralWorld are three performances for the Top-Hit Primetime Series: a Korean B-Boy troupe; a puppetry, modern dance and comedy act; and a black light dance performance that includes illusions, levitation and special effects.
