Bangkok's biggest Fourth of July party
American hamburgers, chili cook-offs and watermelon-eating contests are all on the agenda for the city's annual Independence Day Celebration
2 July, 2010
Nothing says "proud to be an American" like a good ol' fashioned plate of barbecued burgers made with American beef. The American Chamber of Commerce has put together another celebration of all things Americana for this weekend’s annual Independence Day party.
First off, just so readers don’t get confused and show up a day late, keep in mind it doesn’t actually take place on the fourth of July. It’s on Saturday July 3, at the KIS International School on Pracha-Utit Road. Doors open at 12:30pm and the celebration includes contests, games, draws and live music from bands like the Soi Dog Blues Band, Dixieland Band, Peter Driscoll and the Cruisers and Southern Cross. Best of all are the chili cook-off and watermelon-eating contest.
On the menu are dishes and drinks from Bangkok eateries Sunrise Tacos, Roadhouse BBQ, Bourbon Street, Dukes, Dairy Queen, Samuel Adams, Coca-Cola and Singha. Fresh American-beef hamburgers hot dogs are also going to be served.
