Muay Thai fights at Lumpini Stadium? Old news. Fighters reenacting the arts and skills of the Middle Ages in Lumpini Park? Now that’s interesting.

Every Sunday, Bangkok’s chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) meets from 2pm to 4pm near the park's Wittayu Gate (number two) to practice their fighting skills.

According to the SCA website, the global organization is dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th century Europe and has over 30,000 members worldwide. Participants, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, hold events like tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dances and feasts.

We came across this short Youtube.com video of a recent SCA armored combat practice at Lumpini Park. Would hate to catch a blow from one of those old school weapons in the side of the head.
