Another day, another delay: Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link

Travelers looking forward to riding the rails from the city center to Suvarnabhumi are going to have to wait a few more months

Remember when we were told that, after numerous delays, we’d finally be able to enjoy a smooth, fast train ride from the city center to Suvarnabhumi International Airport in December of 2009?

We should have known better than to actually believe it. Here it is, now March, and we read in the Bangkok Post that the State Railway of Thailand is delaying the opening of its Airport Rail Link once again, saying developer Siemens would be unable to finish the railway on time.

“The opening would be put off for at least a few more months,” reports the English-language daily.

Just over a year ago, the Bangkok Post reported that the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link would be open by August of 2009. We’re all for ironing out the safety wrinkles, but come on. This is getting embarrassing.
