Closet confessions: Eerily ironic David Carradine interview set to air
The late David Carradine and his wife Annie Bierman at an event in Beverly Hills in 2008.David Carradine will reappear on the small screen in a rather ironic fashion next week.
It turns out the American actor, found dead at the Bangkok Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel on June 4 this year, taped a segment for the American cable channel BIO's upcoming series "Celebrity Ghost Stories" four months before his death.
But here’s where things get creepy. In the interview, airing as part of the first episode on October 3, Carradine claimed the ghost of the dead husband of his fifth and last wife, Annie, haunted the couple's bedroom closet.
The revelations are likely to cause quite the stir once they air -- particularly among paranormal watchers and conspiracy theorists -- given that his body was found hanged in a closet and categorized as an autoerotic asphyxiation act gone wrong.
His role in the show was kept secret until the series was announced this week. In an interview with the New York Post, Rob Sharenow, BIO's senior VP of programming, said network officials debated whether to release the Carradine footage immediately after his death.
"We absolutely had that conversation, but decided not to make a huge deal of it at the time ... because we didn't want to seem like we were just rushing into something to exploit [Carradine's] passing," he says. "We wanted to be respectful, first and foremost, and to roll the show out as planned."
Other celebs talking about their own paranormal experiences on the show include Joan Rivers, Scott Baio and Carrie Fisher.
"While we don't want to appear as if we were exploiting his misfortune . . . we don't want to be shy about talking about it,” says Sharenow in the Post interview. "It's extraordinary -- and people are going to notice it."
When Carradine died in Bangkok he was filming the movie "Stretch," which is being produced by a United Kingdom-based company.
