Thailand’s Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation has imposed a curfew in Bangkok and nearby cities and provinces following increased violence after troops forced the end of an anti-government protest on Wednesday.

The curfew means that nobody is allowed to leave their homes from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m without permission from authorities.  CNN reports that at least five people, including an Italian, were listed as killed in the Wednesday clashes. Another 64 -- two journalists among them -- were wounded.
