Cobra Gold: Let the war games begin
Thai soldiers carry international flags of participating nations as they parade during the opening ceremony of the Cobra Gold 2010 at U-Tapao airport in Rayong province.The United States launched its largest military exercise in the Pacific in Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard province of Rayong on Monday.
Dubbed “Cobra Gold," the exercise will run until February 11 and includes over 14,000 soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen from Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea.
At the opening ceremony at U-Tapao Airport, U.S. Ambassador Eric G. John said representatives from more than 20 countries are expected to participate, observe or support the war game.
