In a new CNN report, a local family talks about why they decided to turn to science in their pursuit of a son

Last month, we posted news of an Australian woman who was the subject of much debate after the media there reported she was planning to come to Bangkok for in vitro fertilization so that she could ensure her unborn child would be a girl.
CNN’s Dan Rivers has taken a closer look at Thailand’s ‘designer babies’ service, which is illegal in most of Europe, Australia and China and hence fast becoming another medial tourism draw. He interviewed a Thai doctor who performs the controversial procedure as well as a Thai-Chinese family who paid about US$9,000 to make sure they could give their three daughters a little brother.
