A bowl of Indian Hut’s kadi pakoda is one of Bangkok's top vegetarian indulgences.
Sure, the name and logo is obviously a play on Pizza Hut. But as soon as you step inside Indian Hut, the white tablecloths and somewhat staid ambiance belie any worries that this is a fast-food dive.
Opened in 1995, Indian Hut is a perennial favorite among the Indian expat community and serves a vast menu of north Indian dishes.
The quality is consistent if not fantastic, but the key to Indian Hut is that it can suit all tastes. Here tandoori, kebabs, curries, Jain food as well as some Indian-Chinese fusions are thrown together to a high standard by experienced chefs.
Though pretty much any given Indian restaurant has its fair share of vegetarian dishes, writer and food critic Tim Footman enjoys Indian Hut's variety.
"Indian food is always a good bet for mixed groups of vegetarians and non-vegetarians, and the Indian Hut’s kadi pakoda -- dumplings in an addictive sour yogurt sauce -- is exactly the sort of comfort food to convince carnivores that meat-free doesn’t mean taste-free."
