The hole-in-the-wall restaurant everyone's talking about

There's a reason this tiny restaurant is a hot spot on the tourist circuit. Its food is delicious
Chote ChitrThe owner of Chote Chitr has posted some of the favorable reviews the restaurant has received on the wall for diners to read.

Bangkok restaurant Chote Chitr might be a nondescript family-run joint with a sometimes surly proprietress. But it’s in practically every guidebook written on Bangkok and has been reviewed by publications all over the world. Simply because it’s so darn good.

The owner of this hole-in-the-wall restaurant in one of the city’s best food neighborhoods, near Democracy Monument, has been cooking the same recipes her grandfather used nearly 100 years ago. Chote Chitr is particularly famous for its banana flower salad but the menu is huge and the owner is happy to offer her recommendations. If she’s in a good mood.

Given that Chote Chitr is very small and word has gotten out, chances are you’re going to have to wait for a table if you head there during lunch hour. But it’s worth it.
