The odd celebrity has been known to frequent the tiny but popular Wong's.
Wong's is a funky dive bar that stays open late -- sometimes till dawn -- and is renowned for its massive collection of 1980s music videos. Located in Bangkok's Sathorn area, the crumbling joint is known for its informality: patrons are free to grab beers directly from the large fridges -- or more accurately, customers must serve themselves, as there's no table service.
The eccentric manager usually busies himself with VJ duties, blasting selections from his enormous collection of seventies and eighties music videos and concert footage. (The Rolling Stones and Credence Clearwater Revival shows appear to be among his favorites.)
The décor is underwhelming -- snapshots of the bar's regulars adorn the walls -- but the vibe is truly one of a kind. Most patrons head to Wong's after other, more conventional establishments have closed at 2am, while Wong's opens late (there's no guarantee it'll be open before midnight) and closes whenever the owner damn well feels like it.
