Face Bar: Silk Road dreaming

Face Bar is one of those places to take out-of-town visitors. Though it's at odds with its urban Sukhumvit surrounds, it's the image of Thailand that everyone wants to believe in.

The classy and quiet Face Bar is in a sprawling, multi-tiered teakwood compound that also houses Thai, Indian and Japanese restaurants and a spa. Dating back several centuries, the structures in the Face Bar compound are modeled after traditional Thai homes and filled with Asian artifacts meant to stir up images of the region during the Silk Road days. These include the raised Chinese beds which, looking onto pristine fishponds and lotus plants, provide the most private and romantic of the bar's seating options.

Signature cocktails, well-managed staff and the venue's general serenity also keep Face Bar busy.
