Tobias Kegler was born in the beautiful city of Heidelberg, in the south-west of Germany, but he soon chose China. His studies in Chinese history and culture brought him to Taiwan and the Netherlands, where he received his Masters degree in classical Chinese language and culture. Several trips to mainland China fueled his wish to live in this vast country, and in 2005 he achieved this goal by moving his live to Shanghai. Being "Shanghaied" by the city's vibrant charm and ever-changing face, Kegler tries to capture as many aspects of his chosen exile as possible through his photography.
