Bangkok has a reputation for being an after-dark playground for adults. And we wouldn’t want it any other way.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not a family-friendly city. There are dozens of activities, classes and shows that cater specifically to the young ones.

Here are 35 things to do with your kids in and around Bangkok. Many are worth checking out even if you don’t have children.

1. Siam Ocean World

An impressive aquarium in the basement of the posh Siam Paragon Shopping center, Siam Ocean World has everything from penguins to sharks.

This might explain why Ban Chiang -- despite being a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's considered the most important prehistoric settlement ever discovered in northeast Thailand's Udon Thani province -- isn’t up there with the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai when it comes to hot tourist attractions.

Thai tourism taking 'unfair' beating

November is the beginning of the tourist high season in Thailand, a time of year when the travel industry hikes rates in line with the influx of international visitors looking to escape their own chilly climates.

This high season was supposed to be Thailand’s big comeback story, proving the industry could bounce back bigger and better from the 2010 political violence that kept tourists away.

But images of white beaches, spicy tom yum soup and cold bottles of Singha aren't on many people's minds these days. Due to the current flood crisis, most of the country’s hottest tourism destinations are seeing tourist numbers droop to dismal levels.
